RESOURCES

How Service Providers Were Selected for Inclusion in the Guide

The Resource Pillar of the Safe Spaces Coalition of the Chippewa Valley distributed a referral questionnaire to LGBTQ+ people in the Chippewa Valley asking them to recommend an LGBTQ+ friendly service providers for this guide. Recommended service providers were contacted personally by phone to confirm their desire to be included in the Resource Guide and to obtain specific information about what makes them an LGBTQ+ friendly provider. Questions include information regarding office climate (e.g., gender inclusive/expansive/neutral intake forms; diversity of images if décor includes human images; etc.), experiences working with people who identify along LGBTQ+ spectrums, and experiences with LGBTQ+ inclusivity training related to their professional field.

If you identify along the LGBTQ+ rainbow and would like to recommend a service provider not already included in our list, please let us know!

We have also included community and school groups because they are an essential part of any resource compilation. We reached out to organizations and GSAs that the Coalition had had some sort of interaction with before, and also asked for referrals. We would love to expand on these sections!

The ARCW Prevention Program works to prevent the occurrence of HIV, Hepatitis C, and STIs through a variety of initiatives, including: condom distribution, education and outreach, HIV, Hepatitis C, and Syphilis testing and prevention, and the clean needle exchange program. These services are completely free and are provided at our office, at community events (upon request), schools and other agencies, businesses, and bars. As a part of our harm reduction effort at ARCW, we offer a brief training in overdose prevention and reversal. We encourage people who inject drugs, as well as their partners, parents, friends or siblings, agency professionals who work with people who inject drugs, and members of law enforcement, to be trained with and obtain naloxone (Narcan).
